Spiritual Direction

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works…” Hebrews 10:24

If you are at a transition point in your life and are seeking discernment,
if your experience of God in prayer and worship has changed and you’re not sure why, or
if you simply want to grow deeper in your prayer life and in your relationship with God,
you might consider meeting with a spiritual director.

Directing the FellowsSpiritual direction is a ministry of the Church, where one believer helps another grow in their relationship with God. It is a ministry of discernment, involving deep listening to both the directee and to the Holy Spirit. A spiritual director looks for God’s activity in your story and gives you the opportunity and space to reflect on His presence in your life.

A typical spiritual direction session lasts about an hour, is confidential, and takes place usually on a monthly basis.

I love offering spiritual direction, as it is a quiet but exceedingly helpful ministry for spiritual growth. It is a place where we can bring anything from our lives, our hearts or our thoughts and intentionally look to see where God is present. It is a place to bring questions, concerns, feelings, wonderings, secrets and joys. A place that is safe, welcoming and holy.

I have been honored to practice spiritual direction since 2003. I received my training as part of my masters degree in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care at Biola University’s Institute for Spiritual Formation, part of Talbot School of Theology. And I continue to try and grow in my understanding of this great ministry. I enjoy working with both women and men, of various of ages and experiences. My style tends to be interpersonal, yet prayerful, seeking God in all things. I have experience leading people through Journey with Jesus by Larry Warner and Sacred Listening by James Wakefield, both variations of the Ignatian Exercises.

2021 ESDA LogoI was also blessed to be the Founding Director of ESDA, an association of Christ-centered spiritual directors, and in my spiritual direction work, I ascribe to ESDA’s code of ethics.

I am available to meet for spiritual direction either in person in Whittier, California or over distance over the phone or through online (Skype or Zoom).

My standard rate is $75 a session (US and Canadian). However, I don’t want money to be an issue to keep someone from spiritual direction, so if you have a need, I simply request that you ask God what amount you should pay me per session.

If you have questions about spiritual direction, please feel free to contact me. I’d love to have a conversation with you.
